Celebrating World Breastfeeding Week

At the chapter meeting in July, our special guests were three breastfeeding mothers and their babies.   Each mom shared her thoughts on breastfeeding, and a reporter covered the event.
An article with beautiful pictures was printed in both the Las Cruces Sun-News and also the August edition of the Healthy U magazine.

Before and during World Breastfeeding Week, public service announcements featuring a  family practice physician and a lactation consultant were aired regularly on KMBN.   Our special outreach this year focused on the Mother-Infant Study lab at New Mexico State University.  We presented a basket of books with breastfeeding themes to be placed in their waiting area, as well as baby toys, books and receiving blankets for use when the studies are being conducted.

In special ceremonies, Task Force members presented the
Honor Roll Recognition Award to area medical centers that have eliminated the formula advertising bags from their facilities.  Presentations are occuring throughout the summer for the ten New Mexico hospitals that have "Banned the Bag."
