World Breastfeeding Week Events

For our breastfeeding event for the Task Force, we will be setting up a table at La Feria in Anthony. The table will consist of breastfeeding information, e.g. pamphlets,
the Harmony breastpumps and Task Force information. We did order pens with our Task Force logo to distribute to people coming in and out of the store. We are hoping by doing this, we as a Task Force, will get some recognition in this community. We will also be providing some small snacks as well.

As for our clinic, we will be hosting a "Pampering Day" for all breastfeeding women (past and present within 1 yr). We will set-up pampering stations within the clinic such as a haircut station, massage station, facial station etc. for a total of five. We will be giving each woman a fresh corsage as she enters the clinic and five tickets for the stations. We have encouraged all the women to bring in their best dish for a potluck lunch. The staff will also be bringing in food and drinks for all participants. We will be decorating the office in gold streamers to represent the " Go for the Gold " theme. The speaker for the ceremony will be our PC Counselor Belem Anguiano and she will be available throughout the celebration for any one-on-one sessions, to hand out breastfeedingf pamphlets and answer any questions regarding breast pumps.

World Breastfeeding Week Activities planned for Sunland Park WIC Program

For the month of August: we display the "August is Breastfeeding Month" Poster with photos of bf women and their children in our WIC classroom/waiting room..
We display the "Born to Breastfeed" Banner outside our WIC office for the whole month.
We also display another BF banner from the Southern Border BF taskforce at City Hall.

On August 8th, 2008 the plan is:
Staff will wear Breastfeeding T-shirts and take photos of the event plus take photos of the breastfeeding moms with their children.
Activities for the day are as follows.
1.10:00am-11:00am : Recognize/honor breastfeeding moms with certificates,
BF info and items from BF state office….Bf ponchos for    those moms exclusively nursing.
             2.    11:00am-12:00pm: Lunch with door prizes and
                                                   Photos continue
      3.    12:00pm-1:30pm :   Judy with Dental Program will give talk on oral hygiene plus give them toothbrushes, paste and floss. Aprendamos Program will inform moms about development and delays in children. After that we have a client offer manicures for ladies.
       4. 1:30pm-2:00pm Clean up!
